Thank you for visiting this page in search of more information on either myself or the players that I currently serve. This has truly been an experience for me as well as each of them. No challenge is too big or small for the dreams that each of us has been given to focus on.
I spent quite a few years knowing that my dreams were achievable but I had to work to make sure that I was in position to meet all the necessary requirements. I knew that the support of my loved ones was there and I didn't have to accomplish this one alone.
My first accomplishment was the completion of my Bachelor's degree at a time when I was pondering whether or not I really wanted to continue with school. I was in a place of decision of whether or not this path that I wanted to be on was really for me. I knew the dream was mine to have, but it seemed down-right un-obtainable.
Fear set in so much so that I truly wanted to give up. I was working at a small firm, more on a volunteer basis than it was on a paid. I was living with my brother before I moved in with my soon to be wife. I had just recently recovered from a surgery on my rotator cuff due to an accident at work and I was just getting back in the position to provide for myself. It seemed as though the world was against me and for me all at the same time.
Every week I went to class worried whether or not I would be able to make the necessary grade to maintain my dean's list average as if that was the worst of what was going on. I kept my professional demeanor because I knew that more than anything, I had others watching my progress. I was in the process of mentoring two young men who knew that they wanted to go to college but was unsure whether or not they would actually have the chance to make it.
I have never been one to back down from any of my problems, so I continued to make sure I was an example of working through your inability to predict the future. I couldn't let them know that I had doubts of whether or not I could make it through the same place they were trying to get to. So I did what any good mentor is willing to do, I lead by example regardless of the personal cost.
At some point I'll continue this post, but as for now, I hope this brief peek in my past has helped.
